Zuri Hunter

As a proud third-generation native of Durham and a devoted multi-generation North Carolinian, I grew up cherishing the stories of my great-grandmother, who bravely purchased land in both Wilmington and South Carolina during the 1940s while working tirelessly as a housecleaner. My grandparents, both entrepreneurs who ran their own businesses post retirement, played a significant role in shaping my work ethic; my grandmother was a talented caterer, and my grandfather who retired from Liggett & Myers Tobacco Company, operated a successful lawn care company. They consistently instilled in me the profound value of hard work and dedication. For as long as I can remember, I have held a deep affection for Durham; some of my fondest childhood memories include attending the Hayti summer camp and enjoying countless days spent by the beautiful Eno River. My journey eventually took me across the globe, as I studied in South Africa and honed my skills while working for a startup in Chicago. After graduating from the esteemed Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia, I knew it was time to return to my beloved roots. In the interim, I worked as a stylist, but eventually made the seamless transition into the dynamic world of real estate. With extensive experience in customer service, consulting, and negotiating, I apply the invaluable skills I’ve cultivated over the years to help both buyers and sellers achieve their homeownership goals. Currently, I proudly serve on the Durham Planning Commission and the Deeds for Deeds board, where I can contribute to my community. In my free time, I enjoy creating cherished memories with my husband, two wonderful children, and our lively standard poodle.
